NU Car Rentals offers for purchase at the rental counter several insurance-type products that can help reduce or eliminate your liability for damages to the rental vehicle or for injuries or damage caused to third-parties while you are driving the rental vehicle in Mexico.
*NU Car Rentals does not accept insurance coverage’s purchased on third-party websites.
*If customers purchase the package that includes LDW, SDW and SLE described below, NU Car Rentals will require an authorization on the customer's credit card for US$500, plus the estimated rental amount.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW): LDW covers certain damages and losses to the NU Car Rentals vehicle caused by collision and theft, except for a deductible payable by the renter. (LDW coverage excludes damages caused by vandalism and negligence and excludes any damage to the tires, glass, rims and other incidentals.) If LDW is declined, the customer will be responsible to NU Car Rentals for damages up to the full value of the rental vehicle.

If you have third party liability insurance for Mexico, written proof will be required at the time of rental that specifically mentions that you will be covered for rented cars while driving in Mexico. Should you fail to provide it, NU Car Rentals Supplemental Liability Excess (SLE) will be required at an additional cost.
If the LDW is declined then an approval to your credit card of US$2,500 will be requested in addition to the estimated total of the rent.
